Overview
We currently stock a wide variety of dimensions and lengths of Ipe decking. Ipe is the world’s most durable natural decking material. Ipe, also called Brazilian Ironwood, is able to withstand the test of time due to it’s unique characteristics. An Ipe deck will stand up to harsh climates and resist insect damage, mold, and decay.

Extremely resistant to attack by decay, insects and fungi. Ipe was tested by the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory for its resistance to termites. To test the wood, they put the Ipe underground for 15 years. It resisted all termite attacks for the entire period. There is no other wood in the world that has been able to duplicate this result.Ipe is also fire rated compliant per the International Building Code.
Rich, light to dark natural walnut brown color range
Ipe is not listed in the CITES Appendices or on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. However, Ipe species grow in very low densities, with mature trees only occurring once per 300,000 to 1,000,000 square feet (3 to 10 hectares) of forest area. This necessitates the clearing of large sections of rainforest trees (most of which are of little commercial value). Our Ipe comes from a certified Green By Nature supplier, meaning our Ipe material isn’t contributing to black market wood poaching and unnecessary deforestation.
Regular cleaning, brightening and refinishing with exotic hardwood oil to maintain or restore it’s natural color. Wood left untreated will naturally oxidize and go grey, also known as “weathering out”.
