Why choose vinyl flooring?

Looking for an affordable alternative to hardwood or stone flooring? Want a high level of customization and design flexibility? Need your floor to be waterproof? Look no further: vinyl flooring meets all these needs and more. This material is usually fairly cheap and is not known to feel authentic to its style or design’s simulated material—putting in a vinyl floor likely won’t add value to your home.

What Is Vinyl Flooring?

Vinyl flooring is a type of multi-layered synthetic flooring. Made from materials like plastic, fiberglass and PVC, vinyl flooring typically comes in planks, tiles or sheets that can then be assembled. A core layer, potentially with an underlay or backing, makes up the bulk of the floor. Over this is an image layer, which can mimic a multitude of materials including wood and ceramic. A top wear layer of varying thickness protects the sublayers from damage.

Affordable and easy installation

Vinyl is quite affordable and has an uncomplicated installation process that can be DIYed fairly easily.

Why choose hardwood flooring?

Hardwood flooring is the oldest and still most popular floor option out there. With thousands of woods and stain colors to choose from there is no limit to what you can do with hardwood flooring. As other flooring design trends have come and gone there is a reason hardwood has always stuck around.

What Is Hardwood Flooring?

Solid hardwood flooring has been around for centuries, but with any popular product hardwood flooring has transformed into two main categories. Solid Hardwood flooring is made fully out of one piece of wood with a tongue and groove on it. Engineered hardwood is the other main category in wood flooring and has become quite popular in recent years. Engineered wood floor is more versatile than solid hardwood for a couple of reasons. First you cannot go super wide with solid hardwood compared to engineered hardwood. The reason is engineered hardwood is made up of a cross-ply plywood core with every layer of plywood running a different direction. This keeps the floor more stable and less likely to move / cup / warp. Another perk of engineered hardwood is you usually get straighter boards compared to solid hardwood which can bow and twist more after it is dried. Whether you want classic solid hardwood or engineered for your home both are great options!

Why should I install wooden flooring for the home?

Hardwood flooring can be found in many old homes. Even over a hundred years old! An old worn hardwood floor can be re-sanded and made new instead of being torn out and replaced. This is why it is commonly known that installing a hardwood floor can add value to your home. With most hardwood floors being able to be re-sanded 2-4 times it is a floor that can last a lifetime.

Want hardwood but looking for a more sustainable option?

We have a wide variety of reclaimed hardwood options in stock at reasonable prices.
